“Passion” at Wilbraham

“That,s unusual,” you might say. There are no photographs to support this simple report on the happenings at Wilbraham Lodge on 09th March 2023.  Well, there are very good reasons for that, which will become very clear as you read on.

Following a very successful White Table event held last December, the first of the new candidates was Advanced. The WM, Bro Ian Rowan, opened the lodge and conducted a successful ballot for Bro Kevin Morton, a Master Mason of Victoria Lodge 4629, who entered the lodge and was Advanced in fine form with W Bro Alan Lowe PPrGJW taking the Chair and conducting the ceremony.

The lodge was honoured with the presence of VW Bro Eric Drinkwater PGJO, The Special Representative of the RW PGM, who commented upon the quality of the work and the high standard set by all those who took part, especially Alan and the Senior Deacon, W Bro Brian Horabin, PPrGSD.  Eric then gave Kevin a letter of welcome from the RW PGM and invited Kevin to the Provincial Grand Lodge meeting on 27th April in Blackpool with a voucher offering a discount on the banquet following that meeting. Kevin’s eyes widened considerably, being a banker, he knows a good offer!

Following the ceremony, all retired to a festive board where most plates of food were happily polished off.  However, one Brother was heard to say, when asked for his comments on the food, that the “melon was wet” and “the ice cream was cold”.  An observation that could not be contradicted!
Kevin commented upon the “passion and enthusiasm for Mark Masonry” shown by the Brethren of the Lodge which confirmed his belief that he had joined a friendly degree and was very glad to have made that choice.  He is looking forward to learning more about The Magic of the Mark.

A great night was had by all, but why no photographs?  Could it be that all the Brethren are shy and retiring individuals who value their privacy?  Could they be “on the run”? Or in hiding from benefit agencies, like child support?  You will never know, but when I buy a new camera, all will become clear.
